My New Tangle Silo

Update:

Tangle Silo is Pronounced as (Si-lo)

Just a few days ago, my husband asked me if I had checked the English Dictionary for Silo (and he kept pronouncing this tanglepattern as sai·loh, that sounded much like Milo ;-), to which I corrected). After he told me, I referred to the English Dictionary and I felt awkward. So I thought, I will update it in my blog here, the story behind the name Silo for this tangle pattern.

Well, the truth is, I didn’t plan to keep the name Silo. The earlier idea was to keep “Silhouette” - but I found really hard to remember the spelling Silhouette! yeah, that’s me.

So then I thought about all my non-English friends who may incur issues in searching for this tangle pattern - so I shortened the names Silo - which is pronounced as (Si-lo).

So now that this is clear, let’s continue reading the original blog.

Many moons ago, Year 2017, this tanglepattern appeared in my art practice - zentiles and journals.

Below pictures are some of my previous practices in Year 2017-18:

But just as you would think, the tangle pattern looked very close to Tangle Spoken, as it had this radial feel (tangles that have a centre point and open out on all sides). And it was quite understandable since I was so much intrigued by spoken tangle.

So then I gave it a rest, as I waited to feel the synchronicities or feelings. It’s almost like I kept “dating” the tangle, until one day - Silo appeared and I decided to marry it! lolzzzz! I also love when I come across tangles that leave me intrigued and curious, so I kept dating back and forth.

So after almost 3 years, I thought of revisiting this tangle, and this time, it took a different way. It had that awe, many possibilities, the abstractness and freedom that a Zentangle Pattern usually would give to the tanglers. I was fueled with a lot of energy and just on one go, created three different variations of this tangle pattern. This tangle surely shares DNA with Tangle Spoken and Tangle Fengle. Here are my latest tries with the Tangle Silo -

Here I am showing the variation of Tangle Silo to try out for you. This is more of an abstract version of this tangle pattern and I seriously loved the take of it. It can take one into different directions, create in all small and big designs, etc.

I have created a watercolor background using Koi WaterColors and spread with Koi Aquabrush, allowed it to dry and then later used my trusted Sakura Micron PN Pen to draw the tangle. I am using a regular hotpressed round shaped cardstock, artist quality for this illustration.
