Tangle Index String-3

This week we are venturing into the 3rd Tangle Index String Prompt - weekly challenge. Whenever I do a string challenge, I feel a lot more relaxed as I just flow in the intuitive spirit of Zentangling. I have less choices to make; and do not have to bother to speak or give instructions on how I am going to go along with my pen.

I had put on my noise-cancelling headphones, as I created artwork this string prompt. I looked for something to listen, and I came across the audio book of Jay Shetty- Think Like a Monk. Its such an amazing book, I have been wanting to read, but then, zentangling on social media, video posting and private/group workshops kept me busy past few months. If I had ever time, I would just get to sit with my daughter and hubby; play with them or listen to their daily things. So I kept postponing, until I found the free audio book released on Youtube. I finished about 1 hour 45mins of the audio-book yesterday. And his story feels so similar to mine.

Not many know, but in my past, I took an year break and join an ashram to be a monk. My parents were always very supportive of my decision. I had informed them 5 years prior to my going - that I want to see the world from eagle’s point of view and not the way, I learnt the way my school, teachers, friends, tv programmes and my choice of education stream showed it to me. I had a deep desire and quest for self-knowledge, self-exploration and serving humanity along with self-transformation. At age 17, I decided to be a monk and in the ashram and during my services, I had opportunity to learn many different kind of experiences as gratitude, humility, sacrifice, trust, acceptance from the most amazing circle of people I would ever imagined. Today whatever I am, as a mother, as a wife, a daughter and daughter-in-law and a friend, and for all the choices I make, has a very strong hold from that experience of life.

Listening to the audio-book, as much as I read, made me once again come in touch to those personal experiences. Jay Shetty has very beautifully explained how a monk’s thinking or thought process is practical and applicable to anyone, who wants to live beautifully, in-sync with his heart and brain inspite of any culture, tradition or race we belong. I think he has even shared techniques to follow daily to have an exponential growth in our healing experience. I am still way behind with the book.
