HeartiZen2022 – Day5 - Tangle Zinja
On Day5 of Heartizen2022, we play with Tangle Zinja deconstructed by CZT Terri Delaune.
Terri and I have been long-time friends, though we are from different countries and have known each other only through Zentangle. When I was very new on Zentangle Mosaic App; I was pretty shy to share my unpolished and just beginning of artworks in this amazing group of artists, but Terri and a few of my other friends encouraged me so much; that I kept drawing every day or think about next Zentangle every hour. I then, never knew, that we might actually meet up someday.
In the Year 2018, when I made a solo trip to USA for my Zentangle Certification Seminar with the Founders Maria Thomas and RickRoberts; Terri Delaune didn’t mind travelling all the way to Providence; just to greet me and introduced me to so many of her friends in the Zentangle Community. We walked around the city; tried to visit Ritz Art School and Museum. I cannot describe in words how warm and comforting it was to have a friend in the new country.

CZT Terri Delaune is a wonderful artist, extremely talented and has varied interests, right from Zentangle, to watercolours, to bookbinding, crafting, and is also an avid reader. Every time we meet on Zoom Call, we always have new topics to discuss.

Today I take some grateful time with this lovely friend of mine while playing with her Tangle Zinja!

In the first pic, I have drawn on my Regular Black Zentile and drawn Zinja in the centre and filled it up with organic tangles as joki, henna drum and mookas.
In the second pic, I have drawn Zinja with Hearts, starting from the diagonal corners. I filled the centre with tangles spoken, well, decorated with emingle in the outer frame. I created this art for my YouTube; but the angle of the video was incorrect as the drawing was completely covered by my hand.

Okay, I forgot to mention in the video, but I am using my new Pilot Metropolitan Python Design, fountain pen, with size F nib. And I am super obsessed with it lately. It is so flowy and beautiful to write or tangle on a zentile. But most importantly, I loved the fountain ink (Colour: Dense Black), from a local Indian company named Krishna Inks, a Chennai based company. I loved the fact, that the ink colour matches Sakura’s Micron pen. I mean it is so identical that you can’t even differentiate between them.
Cons:
The Pilot Metropolitan pen is bulky and heavy to hold and write/draw. So if you have frequent hand pains or are heavy-handed; I suggest you not go for this brand. Probably a Lamy with an F size nib will be good. But they are on the expensive side. The Pen World has a lovely collection of fountain pens and they ship worldwide.
Krishna ink is a dye-based ink, so, it is not permanent and can be used only as a dry medium. They have another variant - called Lyre-Bird; that they claim water-resistant. However, not many colours are presently available. I have asked them to update me after they stock up. I will test and write a full review on it.
If you want to know more about what kind of fountain pen, will suit you, I found this Youtube Review very useful but funnily I saw this video only after my purchase. Never Mind. :)
